TGIF, one day later
We just got home from a Saturday afternoon lunch together since Melissa is off today. We went to Mel's favorite lunch spot, Applebee's, and then ran over to a local Wal-Mart to let Megan spend the $5 Pama Brenda had given her on a Cars car. I walked down to the EBs and talked about the PC and new consoles with the store manager for about fifteen minutes before my M&Ms showed up. It's still cold and rainy so it's doubtful anyone will venture forth from the house for the remainder of the day.
Melissa and I watched Blood Diamonds last night, a fictional movie that still deals with the African situation and its horrible usage of natural resources and other indigenous valuables (such as diamonds). It wasn't a bad film, though a little sad at the end with the budding love between Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Connolly being cut prematurely short due to violent circumstances. We also rented Children of Men for tonight, which I've heard is also quite good, though perhaps a little obvious with its commentary on current politics and human rights. Melissa's Clive Owens crush continues on.
On the geek-front, Atari announced an expansion pack this fall for Neverwinter Nights 2, a D&D-based computer roleplaying game Melissa bought me for my birthday last year that I thoroughly enjoyed. Upon hearing this news, in fact, I promptly put the NWN2 DVD in my computer's drive and created another character, my sixth or seventh I believe. The expansion is supposedly designed for higher, 'epic' levels, so it should be a lot of fun. The developers, Obsidian, is largely comprised of former Black Isle staff, the company behind the halcyon RPG renaissance of the late '90s with its Infinity Engine-based games (Baldur's Gate, Torment, Icewind Dale, etc.).

"Melissa's Clive Owens crush continues on."
Mine too (but only when he is cast appropriately).
Did you catch him in Privateer 2?
Oh, yeah. Huge Privateer/Wing Commander fan. I still have the box, in fact.
