Fall Mumblings
Enjoyed a quiet morning and afternoon today, thanks to my mom watching the kids before snowbirding back down to FL before the onset of winter and Melissa working. Caught a matinee of Zombieland, thoroughly enjoying its light-hearted take on the new rage genre. Any movie with Amber Heard in it is worth the price of admission, though, no matter how briefly her awesomeness fills the screen. Finished my second Dragon Age novel today in preparation of the game's release next month (I pre-ordered the CE as a slightly early birthday gift to myself). My reading has exploded since I finally broke down and got a pair of glasses. Kinda scary how much focus I've lost over the last half-decade or so, but it's nice being able to hold a paperback at a comfortable distance without straining my eyes for the first time in years.
Didn't have the greatest week at my new job, but two more people were hired bringing out shop's total up to nine now. At least this Monday is a federal holiday. I'm now scheduled for a week of training in Phoenix this Nov, flying out the day after my birthday. Never been that far west and the weather should be nice by mid-Nov.
Had some friends over last night and we geeked out playing Dominion, a spiffy little card game, until about one in the morning. More people were supposed to come over than the three who showed, but Megan's bout with H1N1 scared a few off. It was my first time with Dominion and I really enjoyed the game, will have to pick it up sometime over the next few weeks.
I think my PC component review gig is going to come to a long-delayed end here rather soon. I just don't have the time for it anymore, no matter how much I don't want to let it go. And with the economic downturn the companies just aren't sending out review kits and samples like they used to, so a small website like SimHQ just doesn't command attention from the marketing folk. It was mostly fun while it lasted.
